high above Lake Barkley, the KY
State Penitentiary looks more like a
medieval castle than it does a
prison, which prompted the nickname
"The Castle on the Cumberland." The
Castle is the only maximum security
prison in KY and houses all death
row inmates. Although tours are not
permitted, the prison is worth the
trip to see the facility. Rose Hill
Museum is across the street and
houses artifacts and history of the
prison. |
