June 14, 2004 - View the Photos

The picture of the stream is Oswego. It’s what we first saw as we came out of the last lock on the Oswego Canal. The marina was just to the right and was I glad. The wind picked up just as we came out of the lock and gusted us right into the slip. I was happy to be tied up when the rains came.

We did a walk around Fort Oswego this morning. The sky cleared a little so we decided to make the run to Sackets Harbor, NY on Lake Ontario. The lighthouse is the guardian of the Oswego Harbor. (I thought my photo focus would be sunsets but it seems to be turning to lighthouses.)

It was only a 3 hour run for us to our next stop. I was a little concerned about running in the open water with a storm promised but the lake wasn’t too bad. I did get a little concerned when we were about half way here. The temperature dropped and the waves started white-capping but by that time the autopilot turned us toward our destination and we cruised easily into Navy Point Marine in Sackets Harbor.

This is a pretty little town. The photo with the flowers is from the marina looking out to the lake.

The cow is a talking cow in the “Sea Trail” Discovery Museum. The cow is talking to visitors telling us about milk production in this part of New York. The picture doesn’t do it justice but I thought it was funny.

I didn’t want to disappoint you about sunsets. The last picture is sunset from the harbor. Shortly after this picture it started to rain and now it’s thundering.

If the sun is shining tomorrow we’ll move onto Clayton Harbor still in New York. After that we start into Canada.
