We’re back in Florida. We arrived Saturday night to warm and balmy temperatures. While the Midwest has gotten cold it’s been in the 80’s here. Last night blew in clouds and cooler temperatures but still not northern cold.

We had a good holiday. Taylor was kind enough to share his cold, cough and flu around but so far Bob and I are well.

We have not found any of our traveling friends in this southern climate as yet but they may have opted to go another direction. Our next attempt at contact will be the web.

Bob is working on the boat today replacing the salon air conditioner. This cloudy cool day is a good time to work indoors. We’re expecting Mandy, Taylor, Bart and Kelsea in a couple of weeks so we want to be ready to play.

There is not much more to say. The more I see the weather map the more I agree with Sally Eckland.  I don’t want to be winterized again. Keep in touch!

Life at Plantation Yacht Harbor has settled into somewhat of a routine. Reading, minor maintenance, cleaning, bike riding and sunning occupy most of the time.

We went to church last Sunday at Matecumbe United Methodist Church, the oldest church in the Florida Keys. Small world, Tom Gamblin, the Minister of four months, is retired military and just sold his boat which was moored at Kuttawa Harbor Marina just 5 miles from Eddy Creek.

This has been a gorgeous week! The sun has been warm and bright. Once the sun goes down it gets cool Like in the 50’s, but that’s what sweatshirts are for. We’ve been out in the dinghy to sightsee in the canals and run in the bay close to shore. The porpoises run even with the dinghy.

I believe the tourists are moving south. Highway 1 is getting more and more congested. Speaking of tourists, Mandy and family are coming for the week. I hope the weather continues. Our boat could get smaller and smaller with 6 of us on board while it rains. (Bob and I went to the library and got several DVD’s and videos just in case.)

There are lots of fun things to do here but it would be more fun for Taylor and Kelsea if the sun is shining.

Bob and I are going to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow to check out Blue Water Charts and maybe do a little “big city” shopping before we pick the kids up at the airport. I’m looking forward to seeing the gang.

The Carney family was here last week. We had cooler temperatures but the sun was shining and we had a great week!

The beach and the playground got lots of good use. We made a trip to Key West and saw lots of beach performers at Mallory Square in addition to lots of “local color”. Taylor got to kiss a sea lion, Kelsea kissed a dolphin and Mandy and Bart kissed each other as we celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary.

We used every inch of this Sea Ray with the 6 of us on board but it was comfortable. Their trip home was harrowing when they were in an auto accident on I-24 being hit by a hydroplaning car in the front and then the back causing them to spin and roll. They exited the car thru the sunroof with the help of firemen and EMS. All were OK except for bumps and bruises. Needless to say, I was ready to go home just to give them a hug and kiss.
