The boat is clean, the toys are stowed, the bottom has
been cleaned and we’re ready to move. Our departure is
scheduled for tomorrow. Our destination is unknown. We’re
aiming for either Biscayne Bay or West Palm Beach.
We’ve enjoyed the heck out of this place and this winter of
calm, warmth and new friends. We also enjoyed sharing this
place with some of our friends from eddy creek and hope we can
all come back next year.
The Spring Break crowds are upon us. The traffic on highway 1
is non-stop from about 9 am to 4 pm. The beach is full as are
the restaurants but the sun’s warm and the winds finally quit
blowing so hard. I was afraid the winds were going to keep us
here but so far the forecast looks good.
We did have one mishap today. Bob was loading the bicycles
back on board. He leaned one against the side of the boat.
Guess what? It went swimming. (It really did swim or rather
float). We found it under the pier floating against the boat
next door. The bicycle and the bag got another bath to wash
the saltwater away and they are drying as I write.
I wanted to tell you about the pictures. One is of another
portion of Plantation Marina. It’s the “L” pier that you see
as you first come in from the Bay. The red and white light
house is the marker as you make the turn into the marina from
the Bay. The big creature is a manatee. I’ve seen it twice
before but was never quick enough to get a picture. The funny
looking car is for my neighbor Marilyn Reibel. It is a quilted
car. One of the churches had a quilt show and that was part of
their publicity.
I’m not sure what my Verizon coverage will be as we travel but
we’ll keep you posted on our progress.

“Super Tuesday”. I’m not sure it was super for us but at least
we were on smooth water. We left Monday as scheduled. It was
windy and I was not ready to leave. Our new friends from
Plantation Yacht Harbor were there to see us off and to help
us out of the mangroves and at the gas dock. The bay waters
were choppy. About 1 AM the wind started blowing and I was
ready to stay put in our slip at Islamorada for another day.
Bob was ready to go so we fueled and were off. The bay was
choppy until we cleared Buttonwood Bay. It stayed rough all
day but we made it to Fort Lauderdale “on the inside”.
We stayed at the Swimming Hall of Fame Marina. We were so
tired from our first day of travel! Sleep came easy and early.
The wind was still blowing this morning so we opted for the
“Inside” again. I know this sounds crazy but running thru the
Intercoastal makes opulence seem commonplace. One gigantic
house and boat begin to look like another.
The pictures are from the Miami skyline including the Hard
Rock Café (with the guitar), Fort Lauderdale mega yachts and
Jupiter, Florida lighthouse and sunset.
